To remove odor:
Wash a full load of towels or clothing with hot water, adding 1 level full cap (1 TBSP) of Smelly Towel Cleaner in place of detergent.  Extreme cases may need to pause or soak for 2 hours to completely remove odor.

To keep odor away:
Use regularly with detergent to keep odor away.  Freshen towels naturally without fabric softener.

I hope that I can say this, but I did use the high priced Tide HE Washer Cleaner - (6) times! It did not work once!!!! This product from a Ma/Pa type company worked the (1st) first time making that nasty scent vanish from towels and other heavy clothes that pick up an HE washer's rotten smell. Get them, get both products and use them up and you will be blown away at how clean your washer is and how newly fresh your clothes now smell; for Heaven's sake I did not know that I smelled that way based on my clothes! How gross and obnoxious

You'll not need to keep using and using this product, but I would use a scoop every now and then after you have the situation under control. It is not expensive, and IS well worth it. A 12-ounce jars does not sound very large, but in fact you will be able to send all of the smelly clothes (as described on package) through the washer. The jar's size is plenty big enough as you do not use much, and it is a fast dissolving powder.
