Why Go Natural & Organic

An increasing number of studies link common personal care ingredients to a host of long-term health problems, some as serious as cancer and infertility. In fact, scientists and activists have compiled a list of more than a dozen ingredients that are widely used in the household care industry have the potential to cause harm. This list, which contains endocrine disruptors and known carcinogens, includes lead acetate, silica, petrolatum, Resorcinol, phenol, carrageenan, talc, phenylenediamine, synthetic fragrance and formaldehyde. However, there are not yet any studies on what the cumulative effects of layering dozens of different products, day after day, as a cocktail of chemicals will be.

The vast majority of products in the marketplace today are made from synthetic chemicals, including many known toxins and cancer causing carcinogens. Even products posing to be 'natural' or 'organic' often only contain traces of natural or organic content.

"We are deeply disappointed and frustrated by companies in the 'natural' household care space who continue to trick consumers through misleading packaging, branding and label call-outs on products that are not natural in formulation, let alone organic.", Founder

Organic, Simply Better For You.

What is the difference between organic and non-organic?

While there is no internationally agreed definition of organic, it's largely understood to refer to foods or ingredients that are grown without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides or other chemicals - and meat taken from animals that have not been given antibiotics or growth hormones. Essentially, for foods to be labelled organic, at least 95% of the ingredients must come from naturally produced plants and animals. On the other hand, non-organic food is often grown in ways that are harmful to the environment. They leave toxic chemicals in the food and compromise the food's overall nutrient status.

Organic, Better For The Earth.

Because the ingredients in the products we carry support organic agriculture and are sourced from organic farmers, you can rest assured that no pesticides or herbicides are being used, and that sound land stewardship is always taking place.

According to the Soil Association, the UK's largest organic organisation, 500 different chemicals are routinely used in conventional farming, with experts currently estimating that it can take between seven to ten years to banish toxins from our body. There's no doubt that production methods affect the quality of the plants produced. Pesticide residues (four times higher in non-organic foods) is something we don't want in our system. If they kill insects and other pests, they do the same to intestinal flora and the delicate balance of good bacteria needed for a healthy digestive system. Heavy metals are also more prevalent in non-organic ingredients including cadium, which remains in the bloodstream and has direct links with many inflammatory diseases such as cancer.

A 360o Approach.

All of our brands we carry offer packaging that is made with post-consumer recycled content. All of our products are cruelty free and never tested on animals. Nearly all of our products are vegan (excluding those that contain beeswax), and manufacturing facilities use as much renewable energy as possible, some brands even go so far as to store their products in a local underground warehouse that uses the earth's natural ambient temperature and humidity to preserve and protect. Now that's sustainable and uniquely natural!
